FAQ

How does FreeFit stay on the floor?

    • Patented Backing: Suction/Anti-Skid Backing
    • Weight: Weighs 3-4 times more than the average LVT product
    • Dimensional Stability: Install tight to the perimeter or perimeter glue to lock in the installation.

Can water get down into the bevel and get under the product?

    • The product is similar to rectified vinyl. The precise milling contributes to a snug, straight water tight fit.

   How do you clean FreeFit?

    • Any type of hard surface cleaner is fine. Avoid cleaners with a wax or silicone base, as they will leave a residue behind. Do not use vinegar or ammonia based products. Water will not hurt the product.
    • Recommended: Bona Hard Floor Cleaner is a ready-to-use pH neutral detergent specifically formulated for cleaning laminate, vinyl, and tile floors.

Is there any off gassing or odors when you cut or install the product?

    • No. Due to the glueless installation, you will not get the typical fumes from flooring adhesive. No odors of any kind are given off when the product is cut.

Do you need a special tool to cut FreeFit?

    • No. Simply score, snap and back cut with a utility knife. Alternatively, a guillotine or chop cutter works well.

How do you install FreeFit if the drywall does not meet the subfloor?

    • You would install using a pressure sensitive LVT adhesive or a double sided tape, like Gecko tape, to create a secure perimeter.

How often will you see the same picture of each plank design?

    • There is a repeat every ten pieces. When installing, always work out of three cartons.

Why do you have to acclimate FreeFit if it is dimensionally stable?

    • You have to acclimate for flexibility and pliability reasons. Coming from a cold warehouse, FreeFit will be stiff and very difficult to install.

Do you need to take a moisture reading of the subfloor prior to installing FreeFit?

    • Yes. Moisture will not affect FreeFit, but will get trapped between the substrate and the FreeFit floor. After sitting for a while, the moisture will eventually mold and mildew

Do you have to roll FreeFit during or after installation?

    • No. FreeFit planks and tiles simply lay adjacent to each other using no locking systems or glue tabs around the perimeter of each plank.

Do you have to turn the FreeFit tile or plank when installing?

    • No. The plank and tile are non-directional. They can be installed in any direction.

Will the product move if something is rolled over it?

    • If the object being rolled has the proper sized castors/ wheels then FreeFit will not move. It is recommended that heavier objects use large castors/wheels for ease of mobility.

Does the patented backing actually suck to the floor like a suction cup?

    • FreeFit actually acts more like a non-skid backing until engaged by weight. When engaged by pressure from above, FreeFit does adhere itself to the substrate.

Are dye lots from one run to another?

    • No. FreeFit is not a lotted product.

Is the top layer of FreeFit at risk of peeling off over time?

    • No. Due to the unique & innovative hot press method of engineering there are no adhesives used in the manufacturing process. The layers are fused to each other, thus leaving no room for the product to delaminate.
