About Fitzgerald Tile

For sixty years, Albert F. Fitzgerald and his family have served the installers and family-owned flooring stores of Greater Boston and New England.

Albert and his brothers began setting ceramic tile in the Boston area in the 1920s.  In the early 1950s, Al founded our company to sell tile from a garage behind our house in Somerville, MA.  He quickly moved to a warehouse and showroom down the street and in the early 1960s he set up shop outside Somerville’s Davis Square.  There we got into the import business, beginning with mosaic tiles from Japan.

In the late 1960s, we added Congoleum resilient flooring.  Other vinyl lines followed.  Our company went on to establish branches in Portland, ME. and Bedford, NH., and in 1978 we opened our current warehouse and showroom in Woburn, MA.

Today, our vendors span five continents and include famous brands like Florida Tile and Pergo.  One of our quality offerings -- Anatolia marble -- has been renowned for its beauty since Biblical times.  While clickless, glueless FreeFit Luxury Vinyl Tile and Plank is just now coming to market.  We believe FreeFit is the most innovative flooring in the World.

But through the years, one thing has not changed: our family is still all about building enduring relationships with the installers and family-owned flooring stores of Greater Boston and New England.
